BILBERRY AND GRAPESKIN
Polyphenols with Potent Anti-Oxidant Activity

Bilberry extracts can enhance the processes of eye biochemistry by increasing the activity of enzymes in the retina and extending anti-oxidant activity within the eyes. They also enhance tissue strength and integrity, strengthing collagen by 10 times against collagenase (which breaks down collagen.)

The applications of bilberry extracts are wide, from disease prevention to athletic performance enhancement.

To determine potency of a bilberry extracts look for 25% anthocyanidin content which is the specific concentration that has shown to result in significant anti-inflammation and protection of capillaries. (A.Lietti et Al, Arzneim.-Forsch. (Drug Res)26, Nr.5(1976) pg.829-32). The bilberry's source is also important, ripe ones being higher in anthocyanin content.

Red Grapeskin extract is also high in proanthocyanins which are similar to bilberry polyphenols and which impact positively many body systems in the same way as bilberry extracts, including the ocular (eye) and circulatory systems. The two work together in a synergestic way.
